Brian D. Nordmann is the Director of the Office of Verification and Transparency Technologies, in the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance at the U.S. Department of State, responsible for finding technological solutions to most pressing arms control issues. He was previously the Director of the Office of Biological Weapons Affairs, focusing on biosecurity and biosafety issues. He worked previously for the U. S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. He began his Civil Service career as a Foreign Disclosure Officer at Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe after a career in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Nordmann received a PhD in Biodefense from George Mason University. He has an MS in Public Administration with an emphasis in International Relations from Troy State University and an AB in Communication and Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Nordmann is a member of the Senior Executive Service.
