Professor Etim Ubong received his Doctor of Technology in alternative fuels in internal combustion engines-ICE and a PhD in ICE from Aalto University (formerly Helsinki University of Technology) in Helsinki, Finland. He received his M.Sc., in ICE from People Friendship University, Moscow. His current research interests are in the R&D and integration of low and high temperature PEM fuel cells in devices and the use of alternative fuels in ICE, with several publications to his credit. His research at Aalto University focused on the use of high viscosity fuels in high-speed diesel engines, the use of alternative fuels and multi-fuel engine development. Currently, he is the lead instructor in ICE at Kettering University (KU), Michigan. He serves as the University’s expert on alternative fuels. Dr. Ubong pioneered the development of the fuel cell program at KU in 1997 and is currently the Director of Kettering University PEM Fuel Cell Program. He pioneered the development of the state-of-the-art ICE Laboratory (LUBRIZOL Engine Lab) at KU and served as its director from 1996-2000. He is the 1996 recipient of KU Rodes Professorship award. An honor conferred upon one faculty member each year in recognition of scholarly achievement. Etim is an SAE member and past Chair, Diesel Technical Committee and a recipient of the SAE Ralph Teetor Award. He is the current executive committee member of ASME Fuel Cell Conference Committee, Co-Editor of the ASME Fuel Cell Journal and the 2012 General Conference chair. Other memberships of Professional organizations include: Electrochemical Society, U.S. Fuel Cell Council and National Hydrogen Association where he serves a regional quick responder to H2 issues, etc. Dr. Ubong reviews Journals, peer-refereed technical papers, textbooks for various publishers and conferences.
