My research interests mainly focuses on the mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of chronic pain, pain modulation as well as pain memory and pain-related emotion. The roles of ion channels, receptors, neurotransmitters in the dorsal root ganglion and the spinal cord dorsal horn are investigated using multi-disciplinary methods, including molecular biology, cell biology, immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology (e.g. extracellular recording, intracellular recording and patch clamp recording) and behavioral test. In addition, encoding of nociceptive signing in the brain and roles of pain processing neural circuit in acupuncture analgesia are studied using multi-channel single unit recording and event-related potentials (ERP) techniques in awake, freely-moving animals. Recently, supported by the special foundation for public welfare profession scientific research program from Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China, we also explore the molecular mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of asthenozoospermia.
