Dr. Kennedy S. Wekesa received his BS in Biology from Guilford College, MS in Biology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and his Ph.D. in Zoology from North Carolina State University under the direction of Dr. John G. Vandenbergh. His graduate work focused on the role of pheromones in regulating reproductive behavior and physiology. After his graduate work he did his postdoctoral research on signaling mechanisms in the vomeronasal organ under the direction of Dr. Robert H.Anholt at North Carolina State University. He is currently employed at Alabama State University where he is the Associate Dean for the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology and Professor of Biology. His lab studies signaling in the vomeronasal system and the roles of pheromones on behavior and physiology.
