Dr. OLGA N. SOLOMINA was born in Moscow in 1956, graduated in Moscow State University, and since 1976 she works in the Institute of Geography of Russian Academy of Science. Her PhD was in the field of the Holocene glacier fluctuations. She is also interested in the climate reconstructions on the basis of multi-proxy approach, including tree-ring and lake sediments studies. Olga was one of the lead authors of the 4th and 5th IPCC Assessments, was working in the steering committees of several international projects (PAGES, IGBP, IACS), took part to the numerous research expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, in the high mountains of the Far East, Central Asia, Europe, and Southern America. At the moment she is a Deputy director of the Institute of Geography RAS and a professor of Tomsk State University, author of three monographs and more than 100 scientific papers.
