Biography :

Gary J. Hausman attended Iowa State University and graduated with a major in Animal Science. He then enrolled in graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed the PhD in meat science and muscle biology in 1977. Dr. Hausman has been a Research Physiologist in the Animal Physiology Research Unit since 1980 and is an Adjunct Professor of the Human Foods and Nutrition and Animal Science Departments and is on the Graduate Faculty at the University of Georgia. For over 30 years, Gary Hausman has added to our understanding of embryonic and postnatal preadipocyte/adipocyte development. Dr. Hausman has authored or co-authored over 200 scientific articles published in refereed journals, (receiving >4300 citations; h-index = 33) 119 abstracts, 10 book chapters miscellaneous publications and has given 23 invited presentations at scientific meetings. Dr. Hausman′s national and international reputation is reflected in invitations to present and discuss research data at national and international meetings and requests to consult with colleagues in academia, in industry, and in other governmental institutions throughout the world. Dr. Hausman was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Animal Scientist of the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS)-Southern Section, the 1993 ASAS Animal Growth and Development Research Award and was named an ASAS Fellow in 2011.

Research Interest :

Gary J. Hausman\'s interests are on the development of the technique of fetal hypophysectomy (hypox) and subsequent surgical implantation of slow release hormone pellets permitting intensive studies of the endocrine control of fetal development.
The first to demonstrate several genes and proteins secreted by porcine adipose tissue and adipose tissue in general including apolipoproteins and many interleukins.

Biography :

Hong Wang obtained his Medical degree and Ph.D. degree from the Nanjing Medical University, China. His Ph.D. study focused on the biochemical pathways involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic chronic complications. He then practiced as a Clinical Associate Professor in adult endocrinology in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University for many years. In 1995, his interest in basic research led him to the USA. He first studied the central modulation of pain, particularly focused on the molecular neuroanatomical pathways in both central and peripheral nerve system in the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroanatomy of University of Minnesota. In 1999, he moved to the University of Virginia to study the central regulation of respiratory and cardiovascular function in the Department of Pharmacology. Currently, he is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine. Since 2002, his research interest has been focusing on the insulin action on vascular endothelial biology and the molecular machinery that mediates biomacromoleculars move across the endothelial barrier. Dr. Wang has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Wong is Professor and Director of the Heart Disease Prevention Program, Division of Cardiology at University of California, Irvine, and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and UCLA and UC Irvine and in Radiology at UC Irvine. He is also president of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association. Dr. Wong holds PhD and MPH degrees in epidemiology from Yale University, is a cardiovascular epidemiologist and specialist in preventive cardiology, and has authored or coauthored approximately 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular disease, including his research areas of subclinical atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome and diabetes. He has been a collaborator or investigator with the Framingham Heart Study, Multiethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular Health Study, Women’s Health Initiative and other prospective studies and trials. He also recently co-edited the first edition of Preventive Cardiology, a Companion to Braunwald’s Heart Disease, and previously edited or co-edited three other textbooks. He is also on the editorial board of several cardiology journals, has lectured internationally on his research and various topics in preventive cardiology, and is a member of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. Recently, Dr. Wong was the 2011 recipient of the Jan Kellermann Memorial Award for distinguished contribution in the field of cardiovascular disease prevention.

Dr. Wen-Harn Pan obtained her PhD degree in nutrition epidemiology (1983) from CornellUniversity and received her NHLBI post-doctoral training in cardiovascular epidemiology,statistics, and nutrition at Northwestern University. She is currently the Director for Nutrition Medicine Research Program and for Division of Preventive Medicine and Health Services
Research, National Health Research Institutes,Taiwan. Dr. Pan has established the CVDFACTS cohort for cardiovascular diseases since 1989. She has also led the Nutrition and Health Survey in Taiwan since 1992. She is currently engaged in plant food and hypertension metabolomics research and several dietary feeding studies. Dr. Pan has more than 190 publications in international journals of nutrition, cardiovascular epidemiology, and omics. She has been obtained the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Nutrition Award of the year 2010 and served in many academic or public health committees including as chair of the nutrition group for the health people 2020 in Taiwan.

WG Bergen served as faculty member at Michigan State from 1967-1995 rising from Assistant to Full Professor. Dr. Michael Ross is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, as well as Professor of Public Health at the UCLA School of Public Health.  He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (BS), Harvard Medical School (MD) and Harvard School of Public Health (MPH). Dr. Ross completed Ob/Gyn residency at the Brigham and Womens Hospital, and Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at Harbor-UCLA and Cedars Sinai Medical Centers. He has over 250 peer reviewed publications, 500 published abstracts and numerous book chapters.  Dr. Ross is the Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (Cambridge University Press) as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Physiology, Journal of Maternal Fetal and Neonatal Medicine and Reproductive Sciences. Prof. Lee was designated as a National Research Lab of Clinical Nutrigenetics/Nutrigenomics and successfully made a base for nutrigenetic studies. Prof. Lee is successfully leading a mid-career Research Program for the development of the tailored nutrition for healthy aging. Prof. Lee is considered as a leader in the field of nutrition and nutrigentics not only in Korea but also in the international societies and has intensively researched on the interaction between environment/behavioral factors and genetic properties predisposing to chronic metabolic disease with special emphasis on diet. Prof. Lee is also a national leader who first applied metabolic profiling technology into Nutritional Research field in Korea. So far, Prof. Lee have collected a large amount of biological specimens from health control, metabolic syndrome people without medications as well as patient carrying cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus: DNA extract (>10,000), serum or plasma (>10,000) and urine (5,000) has been already assembled. Dr. Christian-Heinz Anderwald is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna. He is Associate Researcher, Medical director & head (“Primarius”) at the Specialized Hospital Complex Agathenhof, Micheldorf and Chief pharmacist at the Mariahilf Community Pharmacy, Austria.
He has concurrent reviewership in 20 journals, important in (bio-) medical and pharmaceutical research (eg. Diabetologia, Eur J Clin Invest, Am J Physiol, Scientia pharm., etc.). He is the Editorial Board member of journals Endocrinology & Metabolic Syndrome, IRSN Endocrinology, World Journal of Diabetes.

U. Deniz Dincer received her MD, 1986 from Ankara University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey and her PhD, 1995 Ankara University from Pharmacology. She completed her training in USA (Indiana University School of Medicine Departments of Pharmacology and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology) 1997, 1999-2000. She worked Ankara University School of Pharmacy, Ankara, Turkey between 2001-2005 as an associate professor. She also worked LSUHSC, New Orleans, USA and IUPUI, Indiana, USA as a faculty between 2005-2010. Between 2010 and 2012 she was department chair of Pharmacology, Ufuk University School of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey. She transferred to Bezmialem University School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey (2013) as a professor and Department Chair of Pharmacology. In the beginning of 2016, she transferred to Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Health Sciences & Faculty of Pharmacy.

Angela Spinola e Castro graduated in Medicine UNESP / Botucatu School of Medicine (1976), Residency in Internal Medicine, Master of Medicine in the area of Clinical Endocrinology, Federal University of São Paulo (1982) and Ph.D. in Applied Sciences and Pediatrics by Federal University of São Paulo (1993).Training in Pediatric Endocrinology at Johns Hopkins Hospital (1982-1984).Currently I am an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics of the Federal University of São Paulo and the head of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, which I have organized in 1984, being responsible for the specialization course in this area. I was head of the Department of Pediatric Specialties of the same Department. I was a member of the board of the Department of Endocrinology Brazilian Society of Pediatrics (SBP) and I am the current coordinator of the areas of pediatric specialties from 2010 to 2013. I am a member of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (SBEM) and chairman of the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology, during the administrations from 2009 to 2011 and from 2011 to 2013. I am the current president of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the joint committee responsible for board examination in the area of pediatric endocrinology. I am the current chairman of the Department of Endocrinology of the AssociaçãoPaulista de Medicina. I am a board member of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism, regional São Paulo and a member of the Department of Endocrinology Pediatric Society of São Paulo (SPSP), of which I was the chairman in 1991. I am also a member of the following Societies - Latin American Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (SLEP) where he served on the ethics committee, management from 2010 to 2012, the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), Endocrine Society (Active Member), Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology (SOBOPE) and the Brazilian Diabetes Society (SBD). Member of the Ethics Committee of the Hospital São Paulo.

Dr. Gen-Min Lin received his B.Sc. degree from Department of Medicine in National Defense Medical Center and his internal medicine and cardiology trainings at Tri-Service General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan from 2004-2009. He is now an attending physician of cardiology in Hualien-Armed Forces General Hospital, Hualien, Taiwan. Dr Lin has written a large amount of comments, hypothesis and meta-analysis with regard to clinical trials for cardiovascular medicine published in many worldwide renowned journals such as the JAMA, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Circulation. In addition, he was also invited to write a book chapter regarding atherosclerotic renovascular disease and attended to be a speaker discussing a controversy issue of pexelizumab for primary coronary revascularization in the international congress of cardiology held in Beijing in December, 2011. His major interest of research is widely related to clinical trials for cardiovascular disease, antiplatelet therapy for acute myocardial infarction, epidemiology, inflammation and metabolic syndrome.
