He obtained his medical graduation in 2010 at the Catholic University of Rome, Italy. In 2009 he did an internship at the Digestive Surgery Unit of the St. Philibert Hospital, Catholic University of Lille, France. He is currently Resident Doctor at the Surgical Oncology Unit, University of Siena, Italy. He participated to hundreds of surgical operations of general surgery, from thyroid to hemorrhoids, through the esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum. He participated to lots of congresses with presentation of tens of abstracts.

His areas of interests include general surgery, surgical oncology, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, coloproctology and digestive endoscopy.

Dr. Elster graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1976, with degrees in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. That year he earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, subsequently receiving an M.A. in Neurophysiology in 1978. He received his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in 1980. After training in Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1980-83, Dr. Elster completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at University of Texas Medical School in 1986. Following a fellowship in Neuroradiology, Dr. Elster joined the faculty of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, being named as Professor of Radiology in 1992. In 1999 Dr. Elster received an M.B.A. degree from the Wake Forest University-Babcock Graduate School of Management. He served as Medical Director of the MRI Center for 12 years and as Chairman and Director of the Division of Radiologic Sciences for 11 years.

Dr. Gorenberg is the Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa and is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, he has published over seventy, research grants, patents and abstracts.

Roger is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM), an Accredited Nuclear Medicine Physicist of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM), and a Senior Member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has held several honorary positions on professional societies including founding Chairman of the Physics Special Interest Group of the ANZSNM, Chairman of the NSW Branch of the ANZSNM, and Chairman of the NSW Branch of the ACPSEM. He also served as Chairman of the ACPSEM Nuclear Medicine Physics Accreditation Panel from 2005-2007, and until 2007 was an elected member of the Radiation Instrumentation Steering Committee and the Nuclear Medical and Imaging Sciences Council of the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society. He serves as a frequent reviewer for international scientific journals. He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate research students. He regularly undertakes missions on behalf of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region to conduct training courses on nuclear medicine and PET physics. He is currently a major contributor to the development and trialling of an IAEA training scheme for nuclear medicine physicists.

Since the mid-1980’s, Roger Fulton’s research has focussed on improving the quantitative accuracy of SPECT and PET, especially through motion compensation, for which he has received a number of research awards. He has authored over 50 refereed journal articles, 114 conference papers and abstracts, and 5 book chapters. He has an h-index of 17and his papers have attracted over 900 citations.

Noam Alperin came to the University of Miami in May 2009 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Physics from Tel Aviv University and his Graduate Degree from the University of Chicago’s Medical Physics program. Dr. Alperin’s work on the mechanophysiology of the brain and the interplay between blood and CSF flow dynamics is supported by the National Institute of Health. This work has lead to the development of a noninvasive method for measurement of Intracranial Pressure using MRI. Since arriving at UM, Dr. Alperin has joined the McKnight Center imaging team and is leading the research effort on quantitative assessment of the brain atrophy rates and its association with Cerebral Blood Flow. In addition Dr. Alperin heads the Advance Image Processing Laboratory which is integrated with the Evelyn F. McKnight Center for Age Related Memory Loss.

The lab focuses on using different MRI modalities to characterize and quantify morphologic and physiologic changes in the brain associated with aging.

With over 25 year experience in MRI/NMR field, Dr. Bob L. Hou has the expertise in clinical MRI technologies such as optimizing MRI pulse sequences, performing quality assurance and quality control of MRI scanners, developing advanced MRI methods for clinical applications, especially for the applications of functional and perfusion MRI, and teaching courses of MRI physics.

Dr. Hou‘s researches focus on using quantitative MRI methods for brain diseases. He has developed and applied MRI and statistics methods to investigate brain structures and functions and changes due to diseases and or the associated treatments. Current projects include investigating cigarette smoking effects on human brains by using advanced MRI technologies and exposing “silence neurons” in BOLD fMRI for patients with the diseases leading to de-coupe between the neurons and neovasculatures.

Abass Alavi, MD is a Professor of Radiology and Director of Research Education of the Department of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and former Chief of the Division of Nuclear Medicine. He also served as Medical Director of the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Center at Penn’s flagship hospital. In addition to a busy clinical practice, he dedicates much of his time to teaching residents and conducting research into the clinical applications of PET imaging for the detection of cancer and other serious disorders such as dementia, seizures, and cardiovascular disease. An internationally recognized leader in medical imaging, Alavi holds editorial positions with over a dozen prestigious science journals, including the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research. Dr. JuCheng Yang is a special professor of Haihe scholar in College of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin, China. He was a professor in Jiangxi University of Finance & Economics ,China. He received his B.S. degree from South-Central University for Nationalities, China, and M.S. and Ph.D. degree from Chonbuk National University, Republic of Korea. Dr. Du received his bachelor degree in technological physics from Beijing University in 1995, and master degree in solid state physics from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1998. His PhD is in medical physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Du joined the UCSD faculty as an Assistant Professor of Radiology in 2005, and an Associate Professor since 2010. Dr. Du’s research interests are in the field of magnetic resonance imaging, focusing on ultrashort TE (UTE) imaging of short T2 tissues such as cortical bone, tendons, menisci, ligaments, calcified cartilage and calcification in soft tissues.
Dr. Du has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles with a focus on osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and angiography. Dr. Du’s awards include the RSNA Research Scholar (2008) and the American Heart Young Investigator Award (2008). Dr. Dongfeng Pan receives his PhD degree in organic chemistry from City University of New York, Dr Pan changed his research into the field of biomedical imaging, first as a postdoctoral fellow in the PET program at Brookhaven National Laboratory, directed by Dr. Joanna Fowler, from 1993 to 1995 and then in Dr. Sam Gambhir’s laboratory at UCLA from 1995 to 1999.

At the University of Virginia,  He continuing his work on developing molecular and cellular imaging tracers. Particularly, his research focuses on (1) Development of imaging tracers for tracking neutrophils activation and function in animals with various imaging modalities and (2) Development small molecule tumor-targeting carriers for theranostic payloads delivery.

Dr. Qian Zhang received his PhD. degree in Pulmonary Medicine from Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, P.R. China. in 2010. He worked as a visiting scholar in the department of Internal Medicine at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. Currently, He is working as Associate Chief Physician and Director in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Changzhou No.2 People’s Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, P.R. Grzegorz Marek Karwacki is a radiology resident at the Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital in Basel, Switzerland. He has received his medical degree from the Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. His interest for radiology developed during one year academic exchange at the Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany where he has begun his ultrasound training. After graduation his interest for pediatric diagnostic imaging led to an over 2 year education in this field at the University Childrens Hospital Basel, Switzerland. He is a radiologist in training interested in ultrasound imaging, trauma and musculoskeletal imaging and pediatric radiology. His interest fields involve dynamic ultrasound hand imaging and pediatric spine development.

Dr. Ryohei Nakayama received his M.Sc. degree in computer science and systems engineering from Miyazaki University in 2001 and Ph.D. degree in Medical Informatics from Mie University in 2005, where he worked as Research Associate until 2007. In 2008, he was Visiting Assistant Professor with the Department of Radiology at The University of Chicago. He is currently  Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at Mie University School of Medicine.

Monica Shokeen received her BS degree in Chemistry from Delhi University, New Delhi, India. She pursued graduate study at Washington University in Saint Louis, St. Louis, MO where she received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry under the supervision of Professor John R. Bleeke. Her Ph.D. work focused on synthesis and characterization of a neutral iridathiabenzene and (Thiapentadienyl) rhodium Phospine Complexes. On completion of her PhD in 2006 she moved to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO to pursue postdoctoral studies with Professor Carolyn Anderson and develop targeted radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging and therapy. In 2009 she was promoted to the position of Instructor at the Department of Radiological Sciences, School of Medicine and in 2011 she joined the Optical Radiology Laboratory. Additionally, she serves as a reviewer for Cancer Research, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, PLosOne, Nuclear Medicine Biology, Nanomedicine, and she is a member of the Washington University Siteman Comprehensive Cancer Center. She teaches several imaging sciences and nanomedicine oriented courses.

Her research interests include in vitro and in vivo evaluation of targeted nanoparticles as diagnostic agents and development of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging multiple myeloma.

Dr. James J. Lai received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY (2005). Currently, he is working as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Dr. Lais research aims to study stimuli-responsive, or "smart" nanomateraisl, and apply them for the development of low-cost, non-instrumented, easy to used point-of-care diagnostic devices.

Dr. Jianwu Xu received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Florida in 2007. During his PhD program, he interned at Siemens Medical Solutions in Malvern, PA and RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan. He is currently with the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago as a postdoctoral scholar.

Yulin Chang received his BS in physics and economics from Peking University (China) in 2001, and his Ph.D in physics from Washington University in 2006. His Ph.D work was on hyerpolarized-He3 and perfluorocarbon-gas NMR/MRI, under the supervision of Professor Conradi. He is currently working as a research scientist on novel imaging strategies to improve the speed and quality of hyperpolarized-gas MRI.

Neeraj Lalwani, MD received his medical degree from the University of Rajasthan in 1999. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology from SMS Medical College, University of Rajasthan in 2002. After that, he actively practiced diagnostic radiology for approximately six years in New Delhi. After receiving ECFMG certification in 2008, he started his career in radiology in the US as a clinical fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio (UTHSCSA) in 2009. At UTHSCSA, he completed fellowship trainings in Body Imaging and Nonvascular Intervention (2009), Body MRI (2010) and Vascular and Interventional Radiology (2011).
