Alice Kvale is educated as a physiotherapist in Bergen, Norway in 1980. She took a Master of Science degree in neurological physiotherapy at Northeastern University, Boston, USA, in 1985. At Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen, she worked for many years in a multidisciplinary Pain Clinic, and later in a Spine Clinic. She got a Doctoral fellowship fulltime at the University of Bergen (UiB) from 1997-2000, and part time from 2001-2003, and defended her doctoral thesis in 2003. Since then she has had a permanent fulltime position as an associate professor and leader of two Master studies, including Manual Therapy, at the Physiotherapy Research Group, Department of Public Health and Primary Health Care, at UiB. She lectures and supervises PhD- and MSc students in topics related to her main interest.She has published 28 original research articles in peer reviewed journals, and 6 book chapters, and presented her work in many national and international conferences.
