Daniel Pleissner obtained a B. Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology (2005, University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Goerlitz, Germany) a M. Eng. in Environmental Engineering (2009, International Graduate School Zittau, Germany) and a Ph. D. in Biology (2012, University of Southern Denmark). He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the City University of Hong Kong, School of Energy and Environment and working on utilization of food waste as nutrient source in cultivation of heterotrophic microalgae. His areas of interest include fermentation, in particular microalgae, utilization of microalgal biomass and waste streams, marine biology and production of marine biomass.
