Joanne M. Wagner, PT, PhD is an assistant professor of physical therapy in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Saint Louis University. Dr. Wagner earned her undergraduate degree in athletic training and fitness management from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. She received her master of science in kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign located in Champaign, IL. followed by her physical therapy degree from Maryville University of St. Louis. Dr. Wagner completed her doctorate degree in Movement Science at Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her post-doctoral training at the VAPAHCS Rehabilitation Research Center/Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Wagner’s research focuses on understanding the factors contributing to imbalance and the loss of mobility in persons with multiple sclerosis. She has been the recipient of funding from the NIH (K12) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (pilot grant). As author or co-author, Dr. Wagner’s work has been published in many leading medical journals, including the Journal of Neurological Physical Therapy,Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair, Physical Therapy, and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers,the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Therapists.
