Department of Physiology and Pharmacology
University of the Pacific
Dr. Venderova is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, with expertise in neuropharmacology and neurogenetics. Her research is centered on pathogenesis of neurodegenerative processes in an effort to find effective disease-modifying treatments. She received several international awards and fellowships in recognition of her work, such as the Melvin Yahr Fellowship, the Junior Faculty Award, and the Parkinson Society Canada basic research postdoctoral fellowship. She authored four textbook chapters, presented her findings at a number of invited talks, and serves as a reviewer for several highly respected journals and grant agencies. Prior to joining University of the Pacific’s Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine, and at the Toronto Western Research Institute in Canada. She received a doctorate in pharmacy, followed by a PhD in Toxicology from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
Dr. Venderova’s core expertise is in genetics and molecular pathways involved in neurodegeneration, most notably in Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The goal of her work is finding better pharmacological treatments of neurodegenerative disorders.
