Dr. EkÅioÄlu, currently is an associate professorand the founding director of the Ergonomics Laboratory at the Department of Industrial Engineering, BoÄaziçi University (Ä°stanbul, Turkey). He received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from Wichita State University (USA, 1996). He holds two M.S. degrees (Industrial Eng., 1992 &Aerospace Eng., 1990)both from Wichita State University, and a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yildiz Technical University (Ä°stanbul, Turkey). He worked several years in industry as an ergonomics consultant for Advanced Ergonomics, Inc. (Dallas, TX). He also worked for the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) as a research scientist for a year. Prior to joining BoÄaziçi University in 2005, he served as a faculty member at Morgan State University (1 year) and the University of Michigan-Dearborn (4 years). His main research and teaching activities focus on ergonomics and human factors (specifically,industrial ergonomics, human-technology interaction, user and customer experience, work safety and health, product and vehicle ergonomics), work systems and statistics. He also continues to serve industry through his consulting activities. Dr. EkÅioÄlu published numerous articles in journals and refereed proceedings,mostly in the area of ergonomics. He serves as a referee for International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics,Ergonomics, and Computers & Industrial Engineering. His past and current society memberships include Human Factors & Ergonomics Society,International Society for Occupational Ergonomics and Safety, Institute of Industrial Engineers, American Society of Engineering Education, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and Society of Automotive Engineers.He is also a member of US Industrial Engineering Honor Society (Alpha Pi Mu) and US National Engineering Honor Society (Tau Beta Pi).
