William F. Ritter, PhD, is Professor of Bioresources and Civil and Environmental Engineering and chair of the Bioresources Engineering Departmentat the University of Delaware and a Senior Policy Fellow in the Center for Energy and Environment.
In 1965 Dr. Ritter received his BSA in agricultural engineering from the University of Guelph and in 1966 received a BAS in civil engineering from the University of Toronto.He obtained his MS in 1968 in water resources and his PhD in 1971 in sanitary and agricultural engineering from Iowa State University.He was a research associate at Iowa State University from 1966 to 1971 and joined the Agricultural Engineering Department at the University of Delaware as an assistant professor in 1971.He served as department chair of the Agricultural Engineering Department from 1992 to 1998 and 2003 to present.He has served as editor of the ASCE Journal of Iirrigation and Drainage Engineering since 2001 and serves as a consultant to government and industry .
He has also received numerous awards that include the College of Agriculture Outstanding Research Award (1990), ASAE Gunlogson Countryside Engineering Award (1989), ASCE Outstanding News Correspondent (1997),ASCE Delaware Section Civil Engineer of the Year (1999), ASCE Royce J. Tipton Award (2004) and ASCE Richard Torrence Award (2010).

Dr. Fidelia (Ola) Nnadi is an Assoc. Professor and the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences. She received her Ph.D. from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario Canada in 1992 after her outstanding performance in graduating with first class honors in Civil Engineering at University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Dr. Nnadi currently has won numerous awards and grants and supervised several undergraduate and graduate students. She holds a diplomate in Water Resources Engineering, the highest recognition in the profession. She has published several technical articles and made presentations at local, national and international conferences. She is an active reviewer for several national and international journals and conferences. She has also participated in numerous leadership seminars and served as invited speaker to various social and professional organizations. Dr. Nnadi currently serves on various local and professional boards. She is the founder and president of two charitable organizations that encourage community empowerment in developing countries, and indigent single mothers, widows and youths.

Before joining UCF, Dr. Madani was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Water Science and Policy Center at University of California, Riverside. Gary Merkley is an Professor of Irrigation Engineering. His research interests have focused on calibration of open-channel structures for flow measurement, mathematical models of open-channel hydraulics, irrigation system operation and maintenance, irrigation management transfer, and surface irrigation management. Recent projects have included: determination of surface velocity coefficients for the float method, non-hydrostatic flow conditions in Cutthroat flumes, mathematical modeling of unsteady hydraulics in branching canal systems, and management of fertilizer application through furrow irrigation.

Ximing Cai is Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Ven Te Chow Faculty Scholar in Water Resources. He holds Ph.D. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1999). He held Postdoctoral Fellow and then joint Research Fellow position at International Food Policy Research Institute and International Water Management Institute. Cai’s current research areas include watershed sustainability, water-energy system analysis and coupled human-natural systems analysis. Cai has authored or co-authored over 80 peer reviewed journal papers, two books and several monographs. He has served as Associate Editor for Water Resources Research and J. of Water Resources Planning and Management and Editor Board of International Water. He has obtained several awards including Outstanding Career Award and Best Paper Award with Water International. He has also served as consultant to the World Bank and United Nations.

Jiming Jin received a B.S in meteorology from Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, P. R. China, and an M.S and Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences from Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also received a Ph.D. in hydrology and water resources with a minor in remote sensing and spatial analysis from the University of Arizona in 2002. Then he worked for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory first as a postdoctoral researcher and then as a scientist before joining the Departments of Watershed Sciences and Plants, Soils and Climate, Utah State University. He still holds a guest scientist position at the Berkeley Laboratory.  Jin’s research is focused on numerical modeling and analysis for surface hydrology, irrigation and land use change, regional weather and climate.

Mohamad Hejazi is a research scientist with the Joint Global Change Research Institute (JGCRI) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. (2009) from the University at Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a B.S. (2002) and M.S. (2004) degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests include: global hydrologic modeling, global and regional sectoral water demand models, separating the effect of climate change, human activities, and climate policies on hydrology, and the value of information (e.g. weather and climate forecasts) to human decisions (e.g., farmers, reservoir operators). Prior to joining JGCRI-PNNL, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and as a research assistant at the USGS and the Illinois Water Survey.

Vittorio Di Federico is Professor of Hydraulics at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Materials Engineering, Università di Bologna, Italy. He received his Ph.D in Hydraulic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and his Degree cum laude in Civil Engineering from Università di Bologna. In 1994-95 he was Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, University of Arizona, Tucson, and recipient of a N.A.T.O. Advanced Fellowship Program grant. His research interests include groundwater hydrology, environmental hydraulics, and water and drainage networks. He authored 130 publications and a book. He is/has been principal investigator in three EU-funded research project and a referee for several international journals and institutions. Dr. Mohamed Shaban works currently as a researcher in the Drainage Research Institute (DRI), National Water Research Center in Egypt. He completed his PhD program in Environmental Engineering (2007) from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, University of Lunenburg (Leuphana) in Germany.
He has accumulated 15 years of experience in environmental research while working as a researcher in DRI. During this period, He contributed to several researches that were carried out within the international projects:
-Drainage Research Program (DRP) Phase I and II (Dutch-Egyptian projects).
-Monitoring and Analysis of Drainage Water Quality (MADWQ) (Dutch-Egyptian Project)
-National Water Quality and Availability Management NAWQAM  (Canadian-Egyptian).

In the Leuphana University, He joined the research team of Prof. Dr. Brigitte Urban. This team works in environmental research, oriented on the model of sustainable development and focusing on the reciprocal impact of human activity on the environment.
Within working times in DRI and Leuphana, He contributed in designing experiments, collecting, processing and analyzing environmental data (mainly crop, soil, water quality and quantity data), interpreting and presenting results as well as writing reports.

Dr. Junzeng Xu received his BS and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Water-Soil Engineering from the Hohai University, China in 1998 and 2007.  Before he joined the faculty of the Colleague of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering at the Hohai University, he worked with the Colleague of Hydrology and Water Resources as a Postdoctoral Fellow (2007-2010). Juan Antonio Rodríguez Díaz, PhD, is postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Agronomy of the University of Cordoba (Spain). The main topics of his research activity are focused on the management of irrigation water at a farm scale, by mean of water balance simulation models as well as on field measurements of soil and crop related parameters. In particular he is currently working in order to improve the knowledge on the soil-plant relationship, when surface and subsurface drip irrigation are used for irrigation.   
Some of the researches have been carried out with the aim to improve the methodologies for designing drip irrigation plants, with special regard to the evaluation of friction and local losses in the laterals.
Furthermore a long experience in laboratory and field determination of soil hydraulic characteristics has been developed; the main methodologies to measure soil hydraulic characteristics, i.e. saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity and soil water retentivity curve, with special reference to clay soils, susceptible to shrinkage and swelling phenomena, was acquired. Currently he is working on soil hydraulic characterization at a catchments scale, in order to verify the applicability of existing pedotransfer functions (PTF) or to determine new PTF, useful at such a scale, for soil hydraulic characterization  by means of easily measurable soil parameters.
For clay soils the determination of the soil shrinkage characteristic curve and the transport processes of water in soil with macropore/cracks were investigated, with the aim to develop strategies for a sustainable management of soils and water, and for prevention of land degradation.
He was actively involved in the EU project: "An integrated approach for sustainable management of irrigated lands susceptible to degradation/desertification" dealing with assessment of the influence of preferential transport on the processes of salt-accumulation and salt-leaching in clays soils.
In the frame of the research’s activities, some international cooperation were developed with the “Institute National Agronomique Paris-Grignon”, Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) as well as with United State Department of Agriculture of Beltsville (USA).
