Biography :

Dr. Mohammad O. Hamdan obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of Cincinnati in the USA. He is currently an Assistant professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University in UAE. In late 2003, Dr. Hamdan joined Honeywell International as Senior Design Engineer to analyze and evaluate the structure integrity of aircraftheat-exchanger under different thermal fatigue loads. In 2005, Dr. Hamdan moved to GE Research Center and worked on thermal-energy management and on developing different creative solutions for different GE’s products including gas-turbine blade cooling, nacelle thermal managements and electronics cooling.

Biography :

In January 1974 he was appointed Post - Doctoral Research Assistant at Imperial College (Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics Section, Mech. Eng. Dept.) and worked with the well-known Professor D.B. Spalding, FRS, with whom he continues to collaborate until this day. In December 1982 he was elected Principal Lecturer in Mathematical Modelling and Proccess Analysis at the school of Mathematics and Scientific Computing of University of Greenwich, London, England. In May 1983 he was appointed Director of the Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Process Analysis at the above school. In 1984 he became a Reader of the same University, while from April 1983 he was Visiting Lecturer in the Computational Fluid Dynamics Unit of Imperial College. In 1985 he was elected Professor of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and in 1990 he was elected Head of the Chemical Engineering Department. In 1991 he was elected Rector of the University. In June 1980 he was awarded by the Inventions Council of NASA the Certificate of Recognition and an award for the "Creative development of innovative technology which is considered as a serious contribution with future consequences in aerospace and other fields of science".

Biography :

Dr. Narasimalu Srikanthis with Energy research institute as a Senior Scientist and Program Manager leadingthe wind and marine renewable research.Earlier he was with Vestas Wind systems as a senior specialist in the Technology department, leading some of the key research activities of the aeromechanics specialization and as an adjunct associate professor in the school of aerospace engineering in Nanyang Technological University. In his twenty  years of Industrial research and development he has focused in the design and development of precision machinery and has been with ASM Technology Singapore leading the research and development of semiconductor equipment such as wirebonder and precision molding machines and with Tata engineering (TELCO) at Pune in India, focusing on gear manufacturing machinery design. He received his first masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India in machine design engineering and his second masters and first doctoral degreein materials engineering and from National University of Singapore (NUS) with a specialization in vibration and material damping studies. Presently he has completed his second  doctoral degree in technology management from NUS. Dr.Narasimalu has published in more than 90 international journals and have presented in several conferences, and his areas of technical interests are structural dynamics, structural health monitoring and simulation methods. He is a member of ASME, ASM, ASPE, IEEE and MRS(S).

Biography :

Fabio Di Pietrantonio was born in Rome (Italy) in 1975. He received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering in 2003 and the Ph.D. degree in Microsystems Engineering in 2007, both from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (Rome – Italy). After a postdoctoral study on SAW devices and sensors and piezoelectric film growth, in 2010 he was appointed Researcher at “O.M. Corbino” Institute of Acoustics and Sensors of the Italian National Research Council in Rome (Italy), where he is currently working. His research interests include electro-acoustic devices and sensors, deposition and characterization of piezoelectric films, fabrication technologies of micro-machined devices.

Biography :

Qing-Hua Qin received his BSc engineering from Xi’an Highway University in 1982, earning his MSc in 1984 and PhD in 1990 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He joined HUST as an associate lecturer in 1984. After spending ten years lecturing at HUST, he was awarded the DAAD/K.C. Wong research fellowship in 1994. In 1995 he left HUST to take up a postdoctoral research fellowship at Tsinghua University. He was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II fellowship in 1997 and a Professorial fellowship in 2002 at University of Sydney. He moved to the Australian National University (ANU) in 2004 and has been working as a professor in the Research School of Engineering at ANU since then. He has published more than 200 journal papers and five books in the field of applied mechanics, and was a recipient of the J.G. Russell Award from the Australian Academy of Science.
