Dr A. Benaissa received his Bachelors degree in Physics from Algiers University of Science and Technology in 1982. He entered the Institute of Mechanics and Statistics of Turbulence (France) in 1990 and obtained his Doctoral degree in 1993. During this time, he worked on conditional linkage between small scale turbulent structures and coherent structures in boundary layers. He developed new algorithms in analysing the conditional correlation between a passive scalar and its dissipation in boundary layers and jets. After different post-doc positions in France and Canada, he joined the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at RMC as an Assistant Professor in 1999 and since 2002, as an Associate Professor. His research involves scalar mixing for gas turbine applications and pollutant dilution in the environment. He also works on transitional Reynolds flows, particularly boundary layers on airfoils at low angles of attack.

Turbulence in fluids, Small scale structures in shear turbulent flows, Passive scalar transport in turbulent flows, Coherent structures in turbulent flows and effect of initial conditions on their contribution to mixing, Homogeneous turbulence behind grids, Unsteady aerodynamics for small lifting structures.
