Dr. Gang (Sheng) Chen is Associate Professor of Engineering at College of Information Technology and Engineering, Marshall University. He has been awarded J. Robert Fletcher Professorship. Dr. Chen’s areas of expertise lie in acoustics, dynamics, tribology and applications in vehicle systems, mechatronics systems and structural systems. His research has been focused on developing theoretical framework and exploring advanced technology for vehicle noise and vibration control, micro-system dynamics control and structure health monitoring. The author of more than 70 book/book chapters/journal papers, he is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Chen’s experience in academia and industry includes working for University of Alaska in Fairbanks, Alaska, Gates Corporation in Detroit, Michigan, IBM in San Jose, California, SONY in Singapore, DSI in Singapore, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. He received several academic and industrial awards and he holds 5 patents. Dr. Chen received the B.S. degree and the M.S. from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He is member of Society of Automotive Engineers International and member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He serves as member of editor boards of three international journals, as a section editor of book Encyclopedia of Tribology, Springer. He has served as organizer/chair of powertrain NVH session of SAE congress, and organizer/chair of NVH session of SAE International powertrain, fuel & lubrication global conference. Besides serving as reviewer for many journals, he was invited as book reviewer for CRC, Springer, Wiley, and Oxford Univ. Press.
